About

Hi! I’m Emily Day (Doan).  What am I about?

Well, six years ago I moved from New York City to the marina in San Francisco.  Don’t judge!  The marina is actually a fabulous place to live as it gets me outside walking or running on a daily basis.  I, no doubt, need that daily exercise so that I can maintain my eating habits!

What can I say!?  I love food!  From a good old happy meal to the perfect slice to the hidden dive (I mean gem) to dinner at Gary Danko’s, there’s something special about each of them in their own way.  Whether it’s a memory, the consistency, convenience, service, the where everybody knows your name phenomenon or the FOOD, there’s a time and a place for everything and they can each be as enjoyable as the next…they are simply different (in some cases VERY different)!

Beyond food, being active outside, spending time with friends and loved ones (cliche, I know), traveling and just checking out what the city and Bay area has to offer are my favorite pastimes.  I should also mention that I won’t be a marina rent-control resident for long.  We just bought our first place and are moving to what I like to call “Nobtown” in a mere few weeks.

As for my career, you say?  Yep, I’m a working girl, but I’ve just quit my job (the one that brought me out here) and started a restaurant consulting business (say the word if you need some guidance), but am really putting my time into starting my own food business.  It’s just the beginning, so much more to come on that!

Well, I can’t say that’s all that I’m about, but that’s me in a small nutshell.  Read on to hear about my daily adventures starting a business, food bits, restaurant takes, travels, and plain old life in a not so plain city.
